NEWS: TOURISTS, OTHERS KILLED IN APPARENT MISTAKEN GOVERNMENT ATTACK IN EGYPT

Twelve people which include two mexican tourists were reportedly killed on Sunday when Egyptian Forces mistook a tourist convoy in Egypt's western desert for a group of terrorists, according to the official reports from Egypt and Mexico.


The incident which occurred in the isolated Al Wahat area, where egyptian forces are battling insurgent groups, has been described as a case of mistaken identity by Egyptian authorities.


It is not yet clear how exactly the Egyptian forces confronted the tourist vehicles but an unconfirmed source indicated an area attack.

Whether the area where the incident occured was opened to tour groups was not made clear.

According to a statement credited to the Egyptian Interior Ministry, 12 people were killed and another 10 was injured in the incident.
