HOW TO STOP VIDEOS FROM AUTO-PLAYING IN YOUR BROWSER

Is it not annoying to enter a site just to see a video on the site auto play against your will? These videos would not just reduce your bandwidth thereby making your browser slower, they also distract you from what you intend doing.

This tutorial will help you to disable auto playing on your browsers, be it Google chrome, Firefox or Microsoft Edge.

GOOGLE CHROME

1. Click on settings
2. Scroll to the bottom and click show advance settings
3. Click on Content setting button under Privacy
4.Scroll down to Plugins and select let me choose when to run plugin content.

Now, every time a video appears on a site, a grey box with a puzzle piece will appear instead of auto-playing.  If you desire to watch the video simply right-click the grey box and select run this plug in.

Note: Below this is the Manage exceptions button. Click on it to input any website you want auto-play disabling not to take effect on.

FIREFOX

Disabling autoplay is not included in the latest version of Firefox. So the best way to stop videos, whether HTML5 videos or Shockwave flash video, from auto-playing is to install a browser add-on called Flash stopper. This add-on is available in the Mozilla store and it's free.

Once the add-on is installed it will display an icon in the tool bar where you can manage settings and exceptions for websites and contents you would like to auto play

MICROSOFT EDGE

Blocking auto-play is made very easy in the new microsoft edge browser. This can be achieved with just the flip of  a switch.

1.Go to settings
2. Scroll down to the bottom of the pop-out and click on view advance settings under Advance settings.
3. Locate the Use Adobe Flash Player option and toggle the switch beneath it off.

Note: The switch toggled off only disables videos that use Flash from auto-starting. Many of the videos used nowadays are in HTML5 format but unfortunately  Microsoft Edge is not capable of disabling such.

I hope this tutorial has been informative to you.
