A few months back, TechLoy reported that Yudala, a recently launched composite online and retail chain planned on using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), otherwise known as drones, to deliver items to customers across the country.

According to reports by Political Economist, Yudala has achieved this unbelievable feat by making its first product delivery via drone in Lagos for an order placed for its Black Friday sales which runs till November 30, 2015.

The order – a Nokia Lumia smartphone, was placed by a certain staff of Access Bank Plc named Yetunde Lawal, who was shopping on Yudala for the very first time, the report states.

The drone took off from Yudala’s headquarters at Redemption Crescent, Gbagada carrying the item and made its way to the Access Bank branch along the Gbagada-Oshodi Expressway

A Yudala staff was on ground to process the invoice for the order before handing over the item to the obviously elated buyer.

“I am extremely delighted and indeed short of words to explain how I feel to be the first person to receive an item via drone delivery in Nigeria, all thanks to Yudala. This is an innovative concept in the evolution of e-commerce in the country which I am sure other competitors will want to copy,” she said.

She added, “Yudala has met and exceeded my expectations and I can only encourage all my colleagues, friends and family to shop and shop on Yudala. Black Friday is here and I am glad that the Yudala offer will run till Monday.”

Yudala expects this feat, the first-of-a-kind in Nigeria and maybe Africa, to lead to increased visit to its online platform and mega stores which will eventually translate into more sales and profits.

Since it launched in Nigeria about four months ago, Yudala has come up with several innovative campaigns such the
Neighbour to Neighbour Mega Deals and October Mid-Day Madness through which it has delivered on its promises of providing genuine products and services to its customers.

Also, Yudala has partnered several companies such as Yezz, HP, Apple, Lenovo, Tecno Mobile, X-Touch, Microsoft, InnJoo, Infinix, Sony, Wiko Phones, DELL, Philips, itel, Cisco and others to give customers a wide range of product options, and also offers after sales support both on warranty and non-warranty products purchased online and from its offline stores.

Yudala, which means best wishes, peace of mind and prosperity, is carving a niche for itself in Nigeria by being the first e-commerce outfit to combine an online shopping platform with mega retail stores located in major cities across the country.
