A masked man wielding a sword has killed a student and a teacher at a school in the western town of Trollhattan Sweden, while three further victims were seriously injured and and in critical situation in a nearby hospital.
A 14 year old student of the school named Laith Alazze said at first he thought the attacker had something to do with Halloween, as he was clad in black with a star war inspired mask.
The attacker, who is a 21 year old man and is also a resident of Trollhattan was shot by the police and undergoing surgery at the same hospital where those he attacked are being cared for.
Meanwhile, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, who headed to the scene, described Thursday as a 'black day'
"My thoughts go out to the victims and their
families, the students and staff, and the whole community that has been affected," Lofven said. "No words can describe what they are going through right now."
