APPLE ACQUIRED LEGBACORE, THE FIRM THAT EXPOSED THE FLAW IN ITS FIRMWARE

If you want your brand to be a success, work hard on it. If there seems to be tough competitors or threats to the brand,work harder on improving the brand or better still buy off the threat. That's exactly what Apple did.

Last year August, some researchers from LegbaCore created a warm that could stealthily modify a Mac's firmware and this worm was such a big threat that even an OS re-installation wouldn't remove it. Apple was saved much stress though because the researchers informed them of the threat.

Well, not much was heard about the worm and the researchers anymore.  was because LegbaCore was purchased by Apple. The researchers now work on "low-level security" at Apple and this of course is to make sure that Apple OS X's firmware becomes less prone to future attacks.

If you asked me I would say that's simply a smart way of wading off a threat.
